First three Takeuchi machines for Cambrain Plant Hire, Cardiff (August 2007)

First three Takeuchi machines for Cambrain Plant Hire, Cardiff

Since becoming a limited company some eleven years ago, Cambrian Plant Hire Ltd. have expanded at a steady rate to employ forty two staff and supply operated plant to major civil schemes across south Wales and south west England from their base at Rumney, Cardiff.

Owner Andy Riseborough has recently added three Takeuchi excavators to his fleet of around eighty items of plant, which includes excavators from 5 to 35 tonnes, dumpers, dozers and other ancillary equipment. Two TB180FR and one TB175W wheeled machines have been with Cambrian Plant for the last three months and have impressed Andy to such an extent that he is planning another machine shortly, to be purchased from Cwmbran based Takeuchi dealer Min-Ex Ltd. Currently, the Takuechi machines are working on two major projects in south Wales. One is the M4 widening project between junctions 29 and 32 just north of Cardiff, and the other is as part of the Milford Haven to Gloucestershire gas pipeline, providing plant to the main contractors in both cases. “We run a variety of machines but you can’t beat Japanese quality as they are reliable and pretty much bullet proof which is vital on contractor sites. These three machines are our first Takeuchi models but we already in the discussion stages with Min-Ex over purchasing another eight tonne model if they continue to impress. In terms of our service and parts needs, Min-Ex have been excellent for us” Andy comments. He also points out that although compact, Takeuchi’s machines offer easy access for daily and regular maintenance, are easy to operate and provide features such as a swinging boom that enables the eight tonne machines to work in confined areas where they wouldn’t normally be able to work. This combined with the zero swing capability of the TB180FR models was a big buying factor for Cambrian Plant. The wheeled TB175W machine has come in for particular praise too, with operators finding it a pleasure to drive and operate on site with the cab receiving a great deal of praise.
