Squibb & Davies add Takeuchi to fleet

Squibb and Davies have a well established tradition of demolition.  It all started in 1938 clearing sites in Docklands and demolition still remains the core of the company’s tradition. Since the Company was founded it has expanded its activities not only in demolition contracting but also in the management of a growing fleet to support the business.

Looking to expand the fleet with smaller sized excavators, the Barking based firm have recently taken delivery of twenty Takeuchi mini excavators from CBL, regional dealer for the South.

The massive demolition fleet at Squibb weighing in with all sizes means they have the machines to fit the job. The arrival of the  1 ½ and 3 tonnes mini excavators is aimed at their growing requirement for compact sized excavators getting into the smallest tightest areas

Dawn Power Plant Manager.

“Our demolition business needs compact sized minis to get into tight or restricted areas on-site. It was important to find tried and tested machines on our demanding sites

When investing in the fleet we knew the preferred mini excavator options. Squibb had often hired in Takeuchi minis and have proved itself on demolition sites. Takeuchi’s have built a strong reliable name and a good reputation in the tough hire business.”

Squibb and Davies have a strong reputation in demolition nationally. Its plant division has grown with a large fleet full of quality leading brands. The company is continually seeking improvement and is always investing in plant.

“In any demolition plant business the fleet gets truly tested.  Machines must be built to last and key features are essential for Squibb’s business  -  powerful boom arms and breakout force, well protected hydraulics, good strong cabs and 100% steel construction all make a difference on site “

At depot level the reliability and serviceability of a machine in the fleet is one of the key measures of success – it’s the factor that can make the difference to utilisation and down time. Tough conditions in demolition require the strongest fleets and Squibb looked for a powerful reliable excavator to take the impact.

“Reliability on site is essential for the fleet. With our team of very skilled operators their feedback on machines is vital. Operators soon complain when they feel they are taking the impact of the machine, they look for machines that take the impact and comfortably punch above their weight. Takeuchi so far comfortably reach this standard”

Squibb and Davis having built up the machinery fleet in excess of 100 units and are determined to make the most out of its wide machine stock. Having successfully managed an exclusive hire fleet they plan to develop this specialised plant hire business to further increase the size of the fleet and will be hiring out to external customers by the summer
