Despite the downturn Takeuchi continues as the number 1 brand for mini excavators in Ireland all thanks to a strong regional dealer network.

Cashel based BFM came new to Takeuchi some 12 months ago and couldn’t wait to get their hands on “one of the best brands in construction”. BFM didn’t hesitate to take up the Irish dealership and have continued the Takeuchi success even during the tough times

BFM started out in 1977 with Philip and Teresa, Breen Farm Machinery. An import export business for tractors and plant machinery they fast became agri specialists and importers of specialist farming machinery. Conor Breen now heads up the sales team alongside Arthur and David.

Given that machinery dealers can be a reflection of the brands they sell, then BFM have certainly taken on board the brand values of local reliability. Besides Takeuchi BFM stock; Class, Red Rock and Bruno tower lights and generators, making an impact across industrial, construction and agricultural industries.

For BFM delivering leading brands has been an important part of growing the business. It is important to select quality machinery that meets demands of some of the toughest construction sites. They have successfully built up sales with tower lights and generators from 2005, achieving considerable market share

For Takeuchi appointing BFM to serve the south has proved a good step. Keeping close to your market is vital especially in tough economic times, Takeuchi might be a global brand but it’s the local branch that makes the deal.

So far so good for BFM, they report that yes machine sales have been tough but the positive response from stocking Takeuchi has justified the decision for the long term

BFM includes a team of 16. This growing team of highly trained staff have earned a strong reputation for machine back up and service across the South. “It was vital that we let customers know their Takeuchi machines were backed up by parts and service and this is certainly one of the strong parts of BFM’s business” – Conor Breen

Many Takeuchi owners are keeping their machines for a year or two longer, and this can take its toll. Using genuine parts can make a significant difference and Takeuchi customers old and new have certainly tried out BFM with confidence, although Conor points out his surprise at the level of parts business for Irelands number 1 excavator.
