CBL Plant Hire has added 18 new 8-tonne Takeuchi excavators to its plant hire network across the South of England.

CBL plans to distribute the machines across its wide hire network of 10 depots stretching from Cambridge to Cornwall.

The move up to 8 tonne highlights the growing demand for more powerful excavating on site, CBL has until recently only offered up to 7-tonne in the hire fleet and have reacted to increased demand for larger sized plant.

TB180FR or full radius machines are relatively compact in size, with a track footprint of 2300x2855mm, making them accessible in the most confined working spaces. On-site contractors opting for larger excavators achieve heavy weight productivity from added breakout force (53.2kN) and faster cycle times.

Full radius or zero tail swing achieves the obvious space benefits but it’s the unique offset boom mounted on the front king-pin of a Takeuchi that makes a significant difference. Operators can track the machine into position and excavate using the variety of offset boom positions. No need to constantly reposition the whole machine, simply reposition the boom arm. Overall FR options offer less time and space as compared to conventional excavators.

CBL report that the new additions in the fleet make economic sense for many of their customers.
