Takeuchi machines supplied by Hubbway Hire helped shape NORTHUMBERLANDIA, earthmoving and shaping the world’s largest human forme sculpture.

NorthumberlandiaHelping construct the world’s largest human forme, sculpted into the landscape of Northumberland has been a one of Takeuchi’s favourite machines the TB175.

Local plant hire firm Hubbway Hire of Cramlington supplied the Takeuchi to help this massive earthmoving construction project moving 1.5 million tonnes of soil and clay, shaping the sculpture now known as NOTHUMBERLANDIA.

DSC07602With power tilts in position on the TB175, operators were able to delicately shape the surface especially around the face with Takeuchi’s smooth hydraulics helping create the detail

The new landmark feature has been designed by the world renowned artist Charles Jenks. Adjacent to the Banks’ Shotton Surface Mine west of Cramlington. The art project privately funded by the Banks Group and Blagdon Estate is part of a commitment to refurbishment of the former mining area into a fantastic landmark and viewing area for the North East.

Northumberlandia when complete will be a massive 34 metres high and 400 metres in length and will form the centre piece to the public park where visitors will be able to walk to the precipice.
